March 2025 State of Church Marketing

Major Updates Churches Need to Know

Some major changes are happening in Church marketing and digital communication, and if you’re not prepared, they could affect how your Church reaches new people and stays connected.

Here’s what’s changing and what you need to do before it’s too late:

🚨 1. Facebook Will Delete Your Live Videos After 30 Days

For years, many Churches have used Facebook Live to stream services and messages, assuming those videos would stay available. But now, Facebook is automatically deleting Live videos after 30 days.

Live videos previously live will be deleted within 90 days.

✅ What You Need to Do Now:
Download your past Facebook Live videos ASAP before they’re gone.
Re-upload them to YouTube or your Church’s website for long-term access.
Start using short-form sermon clips to engage people online (more on that below).

If your Church relies on Facebook Live, don’t wait—save your content today.

🎬 2. Why Short Sermon Clips Are More Effective Than Full Services

Even before Facebook’s changes, full-length sermon videos weren’t performing well. Most people won’t sit through an hour-long message online.

Instead, short sermon clips are:
More engaging – People actually watch them.
Better for social media – Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts prioritize short-form videos.
Helping to increase attendance – The more people hear your message throughout the week, the more likely they are to visit.

How to Get Started:
✅ Pick one key moment from your sermon each week.
✅ Post it as a 30-second clip on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
✅ Add a simple caption: “Join us this Sunday!”

The Churches that adapt to this shift will reach more people in their community.

📢 3. Facebook Just Added a Free Growth Feature for Church Groups

Facebook recently rolled out a brand-new feature that can grow your Church’s Facebook Group for free.

If your Church has a public Facebook Group, this feature will automatically invite people to join—without you having to do a thing.

🚀 Why This Matters:
Works on autopilot – Your group grows without extra effort.
Great for outreach-focused groups – Not just private Church member groups.
Takes just 5-10 minutes to set up!

📞 4. Skype is Shutting Down – What Churches Need to Know

If your Church has been using Skype to communicate with missionaries, leaders, or ministry teams, Microsoft just announced that Skype will shut down in May 2025.

Starting in March, you’ll be able to log into Microsoft Teams with your Skype username and password. However, if you use a phone number to sign in, it may not transfer.

✅ What Your Church Should Do:
Check if your Skype account will transfer properly.
Start testing Microsoft Teams now.
Consider alternatives like Zoom, WhatsApp, or Signal.

Don’t wait until May—start transitioning now to avoid disruptions.
